How do I work the 2007 BOA®?
To release the BOA® lacing, pull the reel outward. It will snap open and the lace will be slack.
To tighten, push the reel closed, then twist the reel to tighten. For the right shoe, twist forward (clockwise). For the left shoe, twist back. (also clockwise). NEVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, FORCE THE BOA. Twisting the BOA® without opening the reel may result in damaged pawls and is NOT considered a warranty. For more information, please consult the BOA® website: www.boatechnology.com

My BOA is loose. What do I do?
To tighten the BOA®, you’ll need a two pronged pin spanner. An aftermarket BOA tool is available either through a LAKE retailer, or by contacting BOA® directly.

I have a pair of 2006 CXZ301 winter road shoes and would like to mount SPD cleats. What should I do?
2006 CXZ 301 Winter shoes are designed to be compatible with three-hole pedal systems (and Speedplay X and Zero systems with an adapter) only. We suggest that if you will be using an SPD system, you purchase the Shimano SH-74 3- hole to SPD adaptor. If you would like SPD plates installed in your 2006 CXZ301 shoes, they must be returned to us for installation-please call for an RA#. HOWEVER, the installation process requires cutting through the sealed sole and will compromise insulation and water protection. Our MXZ 301 and 2007 CXZ 301 shoes are compatible with SPD use.

I have a pair of LAKE road shoes and would like to mount SPD cleats. There are rails in the sole where the cleat should go, but no SPD backing plate. How to I install the plates?
The SPD backing plate must be installed into your shoes-it's a relatively straightforward process. Remove the shoe's foam insole. Where the plate is to be installed, you'll see a "trap door" – it’s a feature of most cycling shoes. It's glued down with contact cement, so you'll have to break the edge free. Use a punch and, from the outside of the shoe, inside the SPD rails, push or punch the trap door upward. You won't have to open the door far, just enough to install the backing plate. (BTW, backing plates are included with your LAKE road shoes. They also come standard with replacement cleats.)
Once you've installed the plate, close the trap door and burnish the edges of the door with the handle of your punch or screwdriver. Replace the insole and your ready to mount up your cleats.

How do I mount cleats on the LAKE LXSDL cycling sandals?
To install SPD style cleats on your LAKE® sandals, you must first remove the rubber cleat-receptacle cover.
Using a sharp cutting tool (a box knife works very well), cut along the scored, cross-shaped area on the sole of the sandal. You won't have to cut in very deeply, and of course, cut away from yourself! Then pry off the cover using needle-nosed pliers, or similar tool.
Once you've removed the cover you'll see the cleat receptacle.
Install and adjust the cleats as appropriate.

I need wide cycling shoes. Do I have to worry about pedal compatibility?
Due to Q-Factor constraints, LOOK KEO pedals are not considered compatible with wide-width LAKE carbon road shoes.

What length cleat bolts should I use?
Please contact your pedal's manufacturer for these recommendations. LAKE is not responsible for damage to shoes due to incorrect bolt length.
