Just purchased the CX 301 on final clearance. The shoe is describes as a competition (tighter) fit. I ordered it in my usual size (I am an American 8 1/2 and purchased a European 42). The shoe fits snug, but not tight. The lightweight upper is soft and comfortable. The sole is quite rigid and transmits power to the pedals well with even distribution of force so there are no hot spots. Lots of ventilation so this might not be the shoe for cold weather.
I've tried a lot of different brand shoes over the past decade of cycling, both at the recreational and the Conti Pro level. Living on Guam, it is very hard to buy shoes because you have to order online and hope you get the sizes right because returns are such a hassle. I have to say that Lake's sizing guide is the most comprehensive on the market and I got the right size the first time. The second positive was the cleat marking guide on the bottom of the shoe. Cleat setup was a breeze! I'm definitely going to add a 3rd pair of Lakes to my shoe rotation.
And the puts the Frosting on TOP. Great Shoes. My 5th pair. Great fit. Great sole. Great looking. Super clean. Thanks for such a well thought out product.
Purchased these shoes on "Final Sale" in Red. Taking them out of the box my first impression was "Wow!, these are light!". Installation of my Speed Play pedal cleats went on trouble free. Perfect alignment marks on the bottom of the shoe. When I put my weird Flintstone square foot into the Wide 45 shoe I was delighted with how much room there was...typically my little toe on my right foot is the deal breaker, but these shoes fit perfect...and that never happens for me. Quickly took my shoes for a spin around the block and was even happier. The shoe was correctly tight in the heal, and had properly spacious and snug room in the toe box. Its almost as if these shoes were made for me! The shoes were properly snug with no sloppiness anywhere! Whether pedaling lightly or putting the power down there is zero disappointment or discomfort. When I got off the bike and walked around I was also surprised how well the little heal cleat created stability and did its job. Well done Lake! I don't understand why there is only 1 review...why hasn't everyone been raving about these...they deserve proper credit.
