Perfect fit comfortable easy to use

I just switched over to cycling shoes with cleats. My feet are wide and these fit perfectly. I tried two other brands but they were too small. I used the online measurement guidelines Lake Cycling provided to find the right size for me. These shoes are the easiest to clip in and out of too! I also love how I can adjust these while riding, by loosening them if my feet swell. Great shoes!!

Difficult problem

I tried calling Lake to discuss my fit problem beforehand and see what the company's best advice was, but my calls went repeatedly to voice mail. So I did the best research I could and took a shot. I have in my left foot some neuropathy left over from a severe bout with Covid last year and it has manifested itself in a very painful numbness with shooting electric pains and pinpoint nerve pain starting in the metatarsal area and shooting into the toes when I ride. I consulted several specialists, including a podiatrist, who said my best bet would be to go to a wider shoe that allows my toes more room and to get an insole that targets the metatarsal area specifically. I tried a pair of Sidis and a pair of Vittorias before being put onto Lake and Bont by my research as being companies that specifically make shoes for more difficult foot issues. Having already struck out with other shoes, I was wary of spending too much again, so I went with the MX 176 in wide. Although I ride on road, I have to stop repeatedly to walk off the pain when it begins, so I favor off-road shoes for their extra sole accommodation for walking. The pair didn't arrive in the color I'd chosen, which from the order looked to be a grey camo, but my aims are not aesthetic so I didn't mind that terribly. The shoe itself wasn't helpful at all on the first ride with the Lake insole in it. If anything, they were more painful than the others. With a Sidas insole the result was a good deal improved, allowing me to get almost 30 miles without significant pain. I can still, I think, do better, and there is a fair amount of slip in the heel of this shoe, but I might try another Lake model, if I had better information.

Good morning, Toby.
Thank you for your feedback. Our apologies if you were unable to reach us on the phone. Our direct line in the US is (888) 401-0476 Extension #1. Troy will be happy to answer any additional questions you may have.
To clarify, the MX176 is not available in the Black/Camo colour way, this would be the MX238.
We are however glad to here with a different insole the end result seems to have helped. Sometimes a bit of trail and error is required until you land on a good solution.
Thank you for the support.
The Lake Team.
