I had no idea what I was missing until I put these shoes on my feet. My feet are “regular width” but after measuring my foot width, I ordered these shoes for gravel riding. Can’t believe how incredibly comfortable and how comparatively uncomfortable my other shoes are. I am a Lake Shoe believer!
I planned to ride these shoes for bike trips etc., but ended to wear them nearly daily since two years. The quality is really good. It hurts your wallet, but it`s worth it.
I have done a couple of thousand kilometer with this shoes in Malaysian hot and humid climate since August 22. I had difficulties to find the right shoe for wide fit. After trying a few brands and burning Money I found finally Lake. First shoe, First try, perfect fit. Very good ventilation. Got some goof guidance from Customer Service. I will get another Pair soon. :-)
Very nice shoes, looks good in all black, clean design, nice materials, nice boa system. HOWEVER, the width is quoted on the sizing chart as 119mm in the 46.5 Wide size, and mine measured up at just 107mm width. Other complaints were extra plastic material on the sole increasing the stack height and the cleats could be mounted way too far forward but not far enough rearward… manufacturers should note that a more rearward cleat location stabilises the foot, knee, hips and pelvis.
Thank you for the feedback. Measuring the width of the shoes can be slightly confusing as we are not measuring that width at the outsole. This is a dimensional / volume width.
The additional TPU material is placed on the cleat mounting area of the outsoles to help minimize damage from cleats.
The Lake Team
Received my MX 238 Wides yesterday and put them to the test with a 50 mile ride this morning - in a word SUPERB!!! instantly fit perfectly, no hot spots, no cramping, no numb parts of my feet - just absolute perfection!!! I have ridden 24 years in the Pan Mass Challenge with poor fitting shoes (yep - I'm an idiot) but this year I will be pain and discomfort free with my Lakes! Give yourselves a check-mark in the GENIUS column!!! THANK YOU!!!
