Description

The MX242 is a culmination of all of our experience, advanced materials, and shoe making techniques to make a shoe that offers the best fitting solution for hard to fit foot types. Made with a heat moldable heel counter and an uniquely designed upper that has enough adjustability to accommodate riders with bunions, deformation, narrow or wide feet, or a high or low instep. The separated panels allow for fine tuning the fit, relieving pressure from sensitive and painful spots on the feet.

MX Competition Last – Featuring a larger toe box & tighter heel than the Comfort last and with slightly more overall volume than the Sport last. Exceptionally secure for hard riding/racing with enough room in the toe box to prevent binding when running up inclines or negotiating a hike-a-bike section. Designed for performance riding & racing.

Lake Competition 100% Carbon Fiber Sole with Mountain Competition real rubber sole with extended protection and ground stability.

Upper

Helcor Abrasion resistant leather, Ecco Fullgrain leather and Nufoam lining with Carbon fiber support panels which help to maintain a secure fit while adding foot stability. The Helcor Abrasion resistant leather is specifically designed to be extremely durable against rubbing, scrapes and scuffing. The upper is segmented into 6 independent zones for the most flexible fit to accommodate narrow or wide feet as well as high instep and low instep feet. The moldable heel counter doubles the heel hold for a secure fit.

Closure

BOA® Fit System Li2 dials. The Li2 dial is the most advanced platform in cycling, offering a precise, micro-adjustable fit in both directions and designed to resist abrasion.

Review

As I've aged, my feet have changed (same narrow heel, but wider forefoot). The Sidi's I've always worn were causing problems. Other shoes/brands offered the right forefoot, but the heels were too wide. Along came the Lake MX242 Wide shoes and all is right. I love these shoes! The Lake description lives up to reality. The design really does allow the rider to tailor the fit. While I haven't needed to, I thinks it's amazing Lake went as far as to set the shoes up with an adjustable heel cup. I bought and love the CX242 shoes, too. Well done, Lake. Very well done.

The pain is gone

After wasting alot of money on cheaper shoes that was suppose to help with my foot pain. I am so glad I found these and bought my 1st pair of Lake shoes. I can not be more happy with my purchase. My feet don't hurt anymore and it makes for a more enjoyable time on my bike. Worth every penny

Very comfy MTB shoe

This shoe fits like a glove and is super comfortable. Sizing is spot on. Very happy with my purchase!

Continual improvements

Moving from the MX241 to the 242 there are several design changes making these quite possibly the best fitting shoes I've ever used. Improvements in the panel designs, improved lug design, better boa dials, more room in the toe box and tighter fit in the heel. it's like they knew what I would have said if asked for feedback on the 241's. Thank you Lake for such good product and warranty support!!!

Great shoes

These shoes have great fit and function. The redesigned panels really do make the toe box bigger. I bought my recommended size (length and width) and they’re perfect. The BOA closures are intuitive and work well. The shoe construction is very rugged and it will wear well in my harsh dessert climate.
