Most cyclists will generally use 4 main cycling outfits during their spring and summer rides. We all have our favourites, and we all want to try to match the cycling gear we wear, as closely as possible. For me personally, I have a collection of cycling helmets over a spectrum of colours. I have a box filled with cycling socks, and yes, far too many cycling sunglasses than any rider would ever need. My theory is simple: if I can’t ride as well as a pro, I ought to at least try to look the part! Looking good is part of feeling good, and yes, cycling is a lifestyle as well as a sport – which is why riders spend so much effort in finding cycling products that reflect their personality.

However, most cycling shoe brands fail to recognise this and offer cycling shoes in a minimal colour palette. You can have black cycling shoes or white cycling shoes, generally speaking. Yes, despite choosing a variety of jerseys and bibs for the season, and adding these to their multi-coloured cycling wardrobe, most cyclists will simply have one pair of cycling shoes, and usually in a plain white or black colour option.
