Lake shoes with toe spike compatibility use threaded inserts that allow spikes to be installed or replaced as needed. Because toe spikes take repeated impacts while riding and walking, we recommend using a small amount of removable threadlocker during installation to help keep them securely in place.
Use a low- or medium-strength removable threadlocker intended for metal fasteners. Avoid permanent or high-strength threadlocker, as the spikes are designed to remain removable.

Installation
- Make sure the spike threads and threaded insert are clean and dry.
- Apply a small drop of removable threadlocker to the spike threads.
- Start the spike by hand to make sure it is threading straight into the insert.
- Tighten securely with the appropriate tool. Do not overtighten.
- Wipe away any excess threadlocker from the outsole.
- Allow the threadlocker to cure according to the manufacturer's instructions before riding.
Check toe spikes periodically for tightness and wear, especially after riding in rough, muddy, or wet conditions.
