Description

The CX177 road cycling shoe continues to raise the bar for performance level cycling. Feature for feature no other shoe in the same category compares. It’s a cycling shoe for all day rider comfort, fitting those with wider feet too, being available in both regular and wide fittings.

Last

CX/TX Sport – The higher cadence and longer ride times which characterize road cycling require excellent foot control to avoid hot-spots and numbness. Our Sport last is designed to cradle the foot securely, to prevent any unwanted movement, leaving you free to concentrate on the ride ahead. This now legendary Lake cycling shoe ‘last’ features a precisely fitted toe box, high arch, and mid width ball girth, to support your feet on every ride.

Outsole

Our CX177 road cycling shoe utilizes our Road Sport Fiberglass injected nylon outsole. Available in a 3-hole cleat pattern, for ultimate cleat adjustability.

What really makes the CX177 standout is its amazing Fiberglass injected Nylon sole. Lake’s Nylon sole is world famous for its uncompromising comfort, stability and performance. No other injected nylon sole offers the same level of stiffness or comfort. We pioneered this sole and are proud to remain ahead of the peloton with this industry leading product, ensuring that all your effort is transferred into performance.

Upper

We’ve used a Clarino Microfiber & mesh upper on our CX177, giving a perfect blend of durability and breathability. The CX177 features form fitting and durable microfiber and mesh upper, with well-researched mesh placement to allow your feet to breath. The comfortable and secure BOA® closure utilizes technical Carbitex tongue panels for reduced friction lace adjustment and comfort.

Closure

BOA® Fit System L6 dial. The BOA® L6 dial offers a precise, micro-adjustable fit, maximum impact protection and durability. It’s super secure and super comfortable and easy to adjust on the fly, too.

Well made, fit well, limited cleat position

The Good: shoe is well made with a large toe box. They’re well cushioned yet breathable. The boa is super easy to adjust and I don’t really miss not having a second boa.

The Bad: The cleat mounting holes are fixed, and are positioned such that your toes are pointed out like a duck when the cleat is in a neutral position. In my case, my feet sit straight ahead. So, this means I have to position the cleat at the most extreme angle to position my heels away from the bike and allow my feet to sit in their natural position while riding. I could only get this to work with speedplay cleats and only after removing all heel-in float and opening up all heel-out float. It means I’m limited to half the available float on these pedals. Since Shimano cleats self-center, I couldn’t get them to work without causing knee pain. I’m going to use these shoes because they’re well made and Lake won’t let you return shoes after mounting cleats. But, I’m not entirely sure these are going to work for me long term. It’s a shame because it’s hard to find cycling shoes with a roomy toe box and these are so well made.

Mostly great

I need a wide shoe and finally broke down and spent the money. These shoes are very comfortable. My only complaint is the non-replaceable heel pad. I do some organized rides with rest stops that require some walking around, and once a year I do a 3 day ride with multiple rest stops a day, walking around macadam parking lots. The heel pads have not held up well and I now try to pack flip flops when I can, and take these off at rest stops. These are already pricey, and now I'm going to have to pay a shoe repair shop to make something. My fault though, didn't catch that when looking at them. If you don't do much riding that requires getting off the bike and walking, then I highly recommend them. If you do, look to another model with the heel pads that can be replaced.

Unhappy Triad ( high bridge, flat, wide feet)

I have flat, wide and high bridge feet which makes fitting cycling shoes difficult, until now. These (48 Regular) shoes, apart from heel slippage, are the most comfortable pair for endurance rides. I bought a pair of heel pads from KTSAY-ZJF off Amazon and now have the greatest and most comfortable pair of cycling shoes with great blood circulation and room for foot expansion during my longer rides. Great quality so far!!

Incompatible with wahoo cleats

These shoes are badly aligned. If you align your cleats with the bolt holes you will be pointing 10 degrees outwards. Even with my wahoo cleats, which have 8 degrees in each direction, I can't get them straight an I've injured my ankle. It's annoying because the wide fit is good and the cleats can go farther back than most shoes.
