COMPETITION LAST REPLACEMENT HEEL PAD KIT

I absolutely love my Lake cycling shoes. IMHO they replaced SIDI long ago as the definitive choice for quality cycling shoes that are well designed and well made and worth the price.

However, I have to admit I'm disappointed in these replacement heel pads. Granted my shoes are several years old, but the original heel pads had rubber-like grip. The replacements are not grippy at all. In fact, they are a bit slippery on smooth surfaces - especially when wet.

I'll also admit I'm disappointed that Lake does not sell replacements for the toe pads - which would be good for consumers as well as the environment. If it's not profitable to sell, maybe they could just include an extra set when you purchase your shoes to avoid having the shoes end up in landfill earlier than necessary.

Replacement uses only one screw and the provided screw was too short. Had to reuse the original screw. Hopefully, the single screw will hold the heel securely.

After 20K km of cycling the heals were worn down and ready for replacement. The two threaded fasteners on my CX 238’s were an easy swap, and I suddenly became a lot taller! The pads are small and need to be relatively soft for grip while walking, so wear is inevitable. Very pleased that Lake has addressed this with a adequate supply of service parts. My shoes are in good shape and still have a long way to go.
