The uppers are treated with a durable water resistant (DWR) coating that will wear away over time. We recommend reapplying a DWR spray 1-2 times a year for moderate riders and every 2-3 wet rides for daily riders.
I sized up 1/2 to accommodate a thicker sock. The double Boa makes adjustments WAY easy. Roomy (but not sloppy) toe box. Built SUPER well. After many years of 303's - decided to jump to the 404's. Only bummed I didn't do it sooner! Warm, comfortable, easy to adjust, and TOUGH!
I have been using the Lake MXZ303 for many years for Fat Biking in the Winter. Finally took the plunge to upgrade to the MXZ400 and so glad I did. So much warmer! Love the uppers and the 2 Boa system. Day after Christmas when I got them it was around 32 degrees. Still wanted to try them out but was worried they might be too warm. But I was fine even in the little bit warmer temps and love everything about them. Can't go wrong with these Boots!!
