Road Cycling Shoes
Here at Lake, we believe perfection starts at your feet. Our road cycling shoes combine over 40 years of European craftsmanship with biomechanical precision — delivering maximum power transfer wrapped in all-day comfort.
24 products
What sets Lake apart is fit. Where most brands offer a single last shape and call it a day, we build our road shoes on 6 different lasts — from the narrow, race-tuned Race Last to the generous Comfort Plus Last — because no two feet are the same. Whether you're chasing KOMs in carbon fiber or spinning out weekend centuries, there's a Lake road shoe that fits like a second skin.
Our performance range features 100% carbon fiber soles for uncompromising stiffness, while our Sport range uses high-quality composite soles for riders who value versatility and comfort on and off the bike.

Choosing Your Lake Road Cycling Shoe
Performance Tiers
Every Lake road shoe starts with a purpose: to fit your foot like no other. What changes across our range is the level of sole technology, closure refinement, and upper materials — so you can match the shoe to your riding and your budget.
Flagship: CX403 — $599.99. Our ultimate road shoe. Klite Kangaroo leather upper with Carbitex OmniFlex carbon fiber stabilizer panels, dual BOA Li2 dials, and a custom-fit carbon fiber sole with moldable carbon heel counter. Available in Regular and Wide. Heat moldable for a truly personal fit.
Premium: CX333 — $529.99. Built around our patented double sole system — a semi-flexible fiberglass inner sole suspended over a rigid carbon outer sole — the CX333 delivers race-level stiffness with a touch of flex where your foot needs it most. Choose between Klite Kangaroo leather or Clarino Microfiber uppers. Dual BOA Li2 closure. Narrow, Regular, and Wide. Heat moldable Thermaform carbon fiber heel counter.
Performance: CX400, CX302, CX242, CX239. Full carbon fiber soles across the board, dual BOA Li2 closure, and a choice of upper materials. The CX400 (NEW for 2026) naturally adapts to your foot without heat molding. The CX302 shares the CX333's patented double sole at a lower price. The CX242 stands apart with its segmented upper — 6 independent zones that wrap around bunions and difficult foot shapes like no other shoe on the market. The CX239 offers Ecco premium leather or Clarino Microfiber with extended size range (EU 36-52).
Comfort: CX201 — $289.99. Built on our widest last — the Comfort Plus Last — the CX201 gives your forefoot room to spread naturally while a carbon composite sole delivers efficient power transfer. Dual BOA Li2 closure. If you've struggled with numbness or hot foot in other cycling shoes, this is where to start.
Lace-up: CX400L, CX20R, CX21C. For riders who prefer the classic feel and aerodynamic profile of traditional laces. Full carbon fiber soles, clean aesthetic. The CX20R is our lightest road shoe at approximately 230g (size 44).
Sport: CX190, CX178. Fiberglass-injected nylon composite soles with BOA closure. Excellent for riders entering the sport, commuting, or those who prefer a balance of stiffness and walkability. Both available in Regular and Wide.
Finding Your Perfect Fit
Fit matters more than weight, more than stiffness, more than price. Here at Lake, we've spent over 40 years perfecting the art of the cycling shoe last — and we offer more width options than any other brand in cycling.
Our Fit Matrix maps every shoe model to its last shape. Use our size guide to measure your feet, then match your length and width to the right last.

Closure Systems
Our road shoes use three closure types, each with distinct advantages:
- Dual BOA Li2 (CX403, CX400, CX333, CX302, CX242, CX239, CX238, CX201, CX190): the latest-generation push/pull micro-adjustment dial. Two independent zones let you fine-tune forefoot and midfoot tension separately. Learn more in our closure systems guide.
- Single BOA L6 (CX178): one-zone adjustment — simple, reliable, great for riders who want easy on/off.
- Laces (CX400L, CX20R, CX21C): traditional lace closure for even pressure distribution and a clean, aerodynamic profile.
FAQ
Do you make wide road cycling shoes?
Yes. Most road models come in Regular and Wide. Select models (CX333, CX302, CX20R) also come in Narrow for riders with slimmer feet. The CX201 uses our widest last (Comfort Plus) and the CX242 features a segmented upper designed specifically for bunions and hard-to-fit feet.
Can I use SPD cleats with Lake road shoes?
Lake road shoes use a 3-bolt cleat pattern compatible with Look, Shimano SPD-SL, and similar road cleat systems. For 2-bolt SPD compatibility, see our MTB and Gravel ranges.
What stiffness are Lake road shoes?
Our carbon fiber soles (CX403 through CX238) deliver race-level stiffness for maximum power transfer. The CX333 and CX302 use our unique patented double sole system for stiffness with controlled flex. The CX201 uses a carbon composite sole — still stiff, but with more give for all-day comfort. Our Sport range (CX190, CX178) uses fiberglass-injected nylon — performance-oriented but with more walkability.
Are Lake road shoes heat moldable?
The CX403, CX333, CX302, and CX242 have heat-moldable heel counters for a personalized fit. Note: the CX400 specifically cannot be heat molded — it is designed to naturally adapt over time.
Which Lake road shoe should I buy first?
If you know your foot shape, check our Fit Matrix. If you are unsure, the CX239 ($359.99) is our most popular all-rounder — full carbon sole, dual BOA Li2, Regular and Wide, with a Competition Last that fits most riders well. For wide feet, start with the CX201 or CX242.
