After years of struggles, I've found much happiness with Lake Cycling Shoes for my funky feet (bony structure, wide forefoot, uber high arch & skinny heels) with MX241 wide. The MX241 shoes ROCK for Gravel, Cyclocross, XC racing, etc. However, for MTB rides where lots of walking is required I needed a gummy rubber and less stiff soled shoe, and came upon these on sale. Note.....this shoe truly is a higher volume shoe than the racy MX241 model and the wide version I bought is a bit too wide. I should have upsized 1/2 size and gone with regular width. On Sale, so no returns. Moral is measure your feet while standing on them and read sizing chart! Otherwise, I'm impressed with the shoes a lot.
I've had and worn these shoes for about 2 months now and have 1,300+ miles in them, including a 300 mile, 5 day adventure down the Oregon Coast! I was not sure how my feet would be at the end of the day - I had zero problems or concerns at the end of 5 to 6 hours of saddle time each day. Great shoe! Great pricing! They fit me well (I got the wide), and the size 50 (15). I do have to wear slightly thicker pair of socks, which is so much better than having compressed, sore and tired feet at the end of a ride! 2nd pair of Lakes for me - 1st pair are winter boots that keep my dogs warm and dry! Very pleased with my purchase(s)!
This is my third pair and is the only shoe I have found to be wide enough for my feet and have tried so many other brands its not funny. Not sure why no one here in New Zealand stocks these as most Kiwi's have wider feet. Going to by another pair to put on the shelf. Cheers Lake Shoes for making my mountain biking more fun.
Finding a wide enough cycling shoe is hard. However, Lake has plenty available. This particular shoe is great as it allows walking flat on the ground and has quick tightening and loosening. There is slight toe rubbing/numbness but finding something that perfectly fits my frog feet would be nigh impossible.
